Lovely pathways
I also visited the National Wine Centre of Australia for a self guided tour
Teeny tiny unidentified flowers
The rose gardens. Most are still only in bud since it is early spring
Just a blush of pink on a white rose
Corals.... my favourites
Cactus gardens in front of the "Glass House"
Giant lily pads
Mandrill Bamboo
Funny looking little guy
and gibbons
colourful ducks
Lady lions... at their leisure
This is a tree kangaroo. They are rare and endangered. Adelaide Zoo has a breeding program and have successfully produced 18 young in 10 years. No idea how they manage to climb up into the trees.
And lots of colourful birds
The lemurs are always fun to watch
They saved the best for last. Kangaroos mowing the lawn
After my long walk through the zoo, I was planning to catch the free shuttle bus as it passed by on its way back to the downtown area, but it appeared that I had missed one and the next one would be a long time coming. I decided to start walking back instead, even though my feet were quite sore by now. It was only a 15 minute walk after all.
A tour boat on the Torrens River
I took a short cut across the University of Adelaide Campus and ended up back on North Road. It was still too early so I walked the entire length of the street.
The old railway station has been turned into a Casino
These are the state parliament buildings
and I forget what this building is... possibly a college, but you get an idea of how huge all the buildings are along this street.
My feet finally convinced me it was time to call it a day, so I hopped on the bus to return to the motel
Here are some of the nice houses along the bus route.
I took the bus back into the city and made my way to the Botanic
Gardens, entering by the main gate on North Terrace. The Gardens were established in 1855 and are
on nice rolling hills.
